Structure and Materials
* A dual layered contoured foam base

The Zip cushion's dual-layered foam base combines structural support and comfort. Typically, a child using an 8" wide cushion may require a slightly softer foam than a child using a 14" wide cushion. For this reason, the firmness of the Zip's foam base increases with the cushion width.

Cover
* The Zip comes standard with two covers.
* The outer cover is made with silver-impregnated X-static material that naturally inhibits bacterial growth. X-static silver fiber fabric is made with pure silver, a naturally occurring element. There are no chemicals and there is no fear of toxicity for the consumer.
* The JAY Zip's inner cover features specially coated anti-wicking seam thread to prevent wicking. This is the same type of thread used by the US Military for combat clothing. The inner moisture resistant polyurethane coated cover is made with Lycra. This material allows the cover to easily stretch and conform to the individual's shape. Without this ability to stretch, there is a the potential for surface-tension pressure build-up under the user's ischial tuberosities.
* Colourful Cover Sidebands
The Zip cushion can be ordered with coloured outer cover sidebands to complement a child's wheelchair at no additional cost. Choose from blue, red, toxic green, purple, and pink.

Application
* The Jay Zip is designed with the benefits of skin protection and positioning
in a lightweight, comfortable and low-maintenance design. The manufacturer does not state a risk level for which the cushion is suitable.

Considerations

* All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct choice and depth of foam, correct inflation level) , a different product may need to be considered.
* Ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front.
* It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product.
* Foam must be regularly replaced as it losses its spring and becomes hard after long term use

Setup And Maintenance

Maintenance

* Monthly cleaning and regular maintenance may help extend the life of the
cushion.

During cleaning, component inspection is recommended.
* Check the cover for tears and excessive wear and or any other abnormalities.
* Check the foam base to ensure foam consistency.

To clean cover
1. Remove the outer cover from the foam base and zip closed.
2. Machine wash in warm water and drip or tumble dry on low heat.
No ironing required.
NOTE: Do not dry clean covers or use industrial washers and dryers to clean
cover. Do not steam autoclave. Do not bleach.
