Short Description

In 1981 the NSW Government introduced a scheme allowing severely and permanently disabled persons to travel in taxis at concessional rates. Disabilities covered by the Scheme must be permanent: they cannot be improved by further treatment or rehabilitation.

More Details

. Application forms available from TTSS and must be completed by applicant and their doctor.
. Completed form then reviewed by doctor from Department of Transport who decides on eligibility.
. If approved, book of 50 dockets sent entitling recipient to half price taxi fare up to a maximum subsidy of $30 per trip. User pays taxi driver the half fare and completed voucher.
. Central booking line available for those requiring wheelchair taxi

From November 2020 - the TTSS is going digital - transitioning to a digital smart card. Maximum subsidy $60.
