Symbol Communicator For The Blind

The Symbol Communicator for the Blind is a tactile, object symbol based communication device which can assist individuals who are blind, or who have a dual sensory impairment to relay messages when their speech does not meet their needs. It has a fixed keyboard with six message locations. Messages are stored on up to six levels with digitised speech for a total of 36 messages. Message cells can only be selected directly. Message cells can be set to vibrate when they are selected.

* Touch one of the six removable tactile symbols to activate a message and at the same time you will feel a vibration, which can be turned off if not desired
* Tactile symbols are a graphic language system using concrete or abstract representations that are both permanent and changeable. They can be tactually discriminated by an individual who is totally blind or dual sensory impaired
* The symbols attach via hook and loop fastening
* Digitised speech (ie. human speech recorded in a similar manner to a tape recorder)
* Requires 4 x AA batteries
* Includes a starting kit of 6 tactile symbols: Bathroom; Something wrong; Drink; I want; Finished; Eat.
