Short Description

Personal Alarm Call System that has nominated persons monitoring. It consists of a small, body worn radio transmitter and alarm unit connected to the telephone. On activation it dials up to 6 pre - programmed numbers in sequence by the telephone ie, if one number is not appropriately answered the next number is dialled.

Method Of Use

The emergency call is activated by either:
* Pressing the button on radio transmitter or
* Sensor is triggered e.g smoke alarm

Once activated, the unit commences dialing the first nominated preprogrammed phone number in order of preference. The unit continues to dial the next phone numbers until the unit is answered. The person answering the call hears a pre-recorded message and must acknowledge by pressing number 3 on their press button phone for three seconds to cancel the alarm. This function is not available on a rotary dial phone. If the instruction is not followed, the alarm unit will continue to dial other numbers after someone has answered the call.

Transmitter
Radio transmitter can be worn on wrist, belt clip or pendant. To operate the alarm unit, the switch on the side of the small radio transmitter must be pressed for about 4 seconds.

Features
*The standard transmitter is not waterproof.
* If the radio transmitter is not functioning, the RED button on the top of
the alarm unit can be pressed which performs the same function as the radio transmitter.
* The BLACK button on the bottom of the alarm unit must be pressed to reset the alarm unit
* Range of activation is 30 - 50 metres from the console

Factors To Consider

Nominated Monitoring
The instructions for taking an emergency call should be clearly printed and left by the receiver's phone at all times."This telephone number has been programmed into an emergency calling system". If the phone rings and a message is received advising of the emergency, press the number 3 button on it for three seconds. This cancels the call from the alarm panel".

Special care should be taken when selecting the numbers that are to be called. One should consider the ability of the call party to be contacted and their ability to respond to the alarm message.

There is a danger that the call may be taken by a Message bank so there will be no immediate response to the emergency situation.
