The aim of the Renal Association is to assist its members to cope better with the effects of renal failure and its treatments.
The activities of the Renal Association of NSW include:
Holiday Facilities
"Bold Venture" holiday home at Toukley (NSW Central Coast)
Newsletter
To keep members informed about Association activities and to give an open line for comments.
Financial Assistance
To those with difficulties in meeting costs resulting from their treatment. This is arranged in conjunction with Renal Unit social workers.
Transplant Australia
The Association works closely with the organisers of Transplant Australia.
Patient Information
Various resources, including holiday pamphlets and holiday dialysis facilities, AKF Introductory booklets on "Living with Kidney Disease" and transplant videos are available through the Renal Resources Centre in Sydney.
The RENAL ASSOCIATION can also give information on water and electricity rebates that a dialysis patient may be entitled to.
Personal Assistance
Particularly to those people "new" to dialysis. Meeting other people in a similar situation who understand and can give advice on particular needs.
A Visiting Group Committee is willing to assist in personal matters when needed (both for patients and partners).
FUNDS
The Association is a registered charity and has no paid staff. It is therefore reliant on membership fees, donations and fund raising to continue our projects. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
