Short Description

The Aged Care Assessment Teams National Register provides information on the location and functions of each ACAT. This register is distributed to all Assessment Teams, State Health Authorities and other key agencies involved in aged care.

More Details

*Commonwealth funded regionally based Assessment Teams are located throughout Australia. Most are located in major public hospitals or in community health centres.
*The role of ACATs is to assess the physical, medical, psychological and social needs of frail older people for entry to residential aged care facilities and receipt of Community Aged Care Packages and to ensure that older people gain access to available care services appropriate to their needs.

*The REGISTER provides information on:
- location and functions of each ACAT. Wherever possible, a map has been provided together with lists of some towns which the ACAT serves.
- whether each team operates:
*a Nursing Home waiting list
*a Hostel waiting list
*a Respite booking service
- contact the Evaluation Unit in each State for details. The main function of these units is to collate, analyse and report data supplied by the ACATs They also provide training to help assessment teams use and maintain the computerised data collection systems
