Short Description

Freedom Motors Australia convert vehicles to provide rear entry wheelchair access. The conversions include various wheelchair and seating configurations to meet user needs and the design of the vehicle. All vehicles have rear entry ramps. Some vehicles are able to carry two wheelchairs.

The following Rear Entry Designs are available

Two Seater Design
This design is suitable for people who do not need to travel with a family. The wheelchair can roll up to the back of the driver / passenger seats.

Seating
* 2 passengers + 1 wheelchair
* 4 passengers (with optional double fold down seat) \

Family Design
This design is suitable for situations where the wheelchair occupant wants or must be close to the driver or passengers position. The wheelchair can roll through the middle of the vehicle and fits in between the two single modified bucket seats.

Seating
* 4 passengers + 1 wheelchair
* 6 passengers (with optional double fold down seat)

Passenger Design
This design places the wheelchair occupant behind the second row seats. You can choose between leaving the original bucket seats in their original position or moving the third row three seater forward

* 6 passengers (with optional double fold down seat)
* 5 passengers + 1 wheelchair
* 7 passengers (with optional double fold down seat)

Two Wheelchair Design
This design is suitable for smaller organisations where the transportation of a second wheelchair occupant may occur on a regular basis. This design is only possible with the larger van type vehicles. Also seating arrangements for other passengers are very flexible.

Front Row Design
This design places the wheelchair occupant all the way to the front of the vehicle next to the driver without having to move from the wheelchair. This design gives you the freedom to virtually position the wheelchair and yourself anywhere in the vehicle.

Self Drive Design
This design is suitable for a situation where both wheelchair occupant or other persons will be driving the vehicle. For the wheelchair occupant the following items have been added to the standard conversion. Please note: The wheelchair occupant must be able to transfer from wheelchair to the drivers seat
* Rear door and ramp Auto-Entry system. Controlled by remote control.
* Automatic wheelchair docking system (to lock the wheelchair to the floor of the vehicle)
* Power driver transfer drivers seat (Forwards and backwards movement)
* Hand assisted driving control system (Push Pull Handle, self cancelling indicator, flip up accelerator pedal and knob)

Wheelchair Drive Design
This design is suitable for wheelchair occupants that have trouble transferring to a driver seat but still want the freedom to drive a vehicle. This design allows the wheelchair occupant to ride the wheelchair to the driver's position. For the wheelchair occupant the following items have been added to the standard conversion
* Rear door and ramp Auto-Entry system. Controlled by remote control
* Automatic wheelchair docking system (to lock the wheelchair to the floor of the vehicle)
* Hand assisted driving control system (Push Pull Handle, self cancelling indicator, flip up accelerator pedal and knob)

Requirements

Standards

When purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle consider the vertical clearances in relation to the vertical clearances recommended by AS2890.1 (off street parking), and AS4299 (adaptable housing). The recommendations are as follows.
* Vertical clearance at the entrance to an off street car park - minimum 2200mm. The height of the vehicle should be less than 2200mm to enter an off street car park.
