Short Description
A flexible flat viscoelastic polymer pad made from ultra soft synthetic rubber. It has multifunctional applications for seating needs. When used on its own as a seat pad it is suitable for people at low risk of developing pressure injuries. Available in three heights and eight sizes. Optional covers are available for the two thicker pads.
Additional Info
More Details
*Pads are designed to be cut and used for spot protection in products such as arm pads, footplates, head / legrests and splints / braces.
*The cube pad can be adapted for use on backs to support and reduce risk to bony prominence, on gel based cushions to stop bottoming out, and on existing low end cushions to provide increased shear and pressure reduction.
*The overlay is designed to provide maximum pressure protection and adapts to the shape of contoured cushions.
*This pad works better when coupled with foam. On its own it is only suitable for low risk clients. When foam is used in combination with the pad it may be suitable for higher risk clients.
*The material dissipates heat build up, distributes weight uniformly to avoid high pressure development and doesn't bottom out.
*Does not require kneading or readjustment for continuous support.
*Will not leak or flow if punctured.
*Pads are available in 0.635 mm, 1.3 mm, or 1.59 mm pad thickness
*Suitable for custom moulded cushions.
The Adaptive Flat Pad comes standard without a cover, however the Basic Cover is available for all models except the 561818 model.
Considerations
NOTE: Re: use of an electric blanket / heating pad under the gel pad.
Action Products advised that the heating pad be placed under the pad and pre-warm it. You must be extremely careful that the pad does not get too hot or develop hot spots as this will carry through the Akton pad and the patient could get burned. They should not take it above 103F as this could cause burns to the patient. If the patient has no feeling then someone must check the patient at all times to prevent burns caused by the heating pad. The Action pad merely will transfer the heat as the heating pad produces it.
Follow the manufacturer's directions when using a heating pad / electric blanket.
