This raised stainless steel dome is also known as a handrail tactile indicator. It indicates discontinuity of a handrail. It is required to be fitted where a handrail does not extend a minimum 300mm required in AS 1428.1992, or where tactile ground surface indicators are not used, as a guide for people who are blind or have a vision impairment. It can be installed into handrails of stone, timber, vitrified tiles, ceramics, brass, bronze and steels.
