Hearing Matters Australia (HMA)

Hearing Matters Australia is a voluntary non profit organisation providing information and other services to promote the well being of people with hearing loss. Hearing Matters Australia also organises the supply of reconditioned behind the ear hearing aids for people with low incomes.

* Previously known as Self Help for Hard of Hearing (SHHH)

* Services include information, advice, peer support, advocacy, peer support, and public awareness outreach programs.

* Hearing Matters Australia has a large online library of information sheets regarding various situations facing people with hearing loss. They also provide information and advice to people who contact them.

* The Hearing Aid Bank provides refurbished hearing aids to people on low incomes. There is a fee for this service.

* HMA has different telephones for people to try out to see what works for their hearing needs. They do not sell products. They allow you to try products in their display as part of their information service.

* Open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 3pm.

Fee for Hearing Aid Bank service - $300 for one hearing aid, and an additional $100 if a second hearing aid is needed
