More Details
The cushion consists of:
. A moisture resistant, firm polyethylene foam base, which is pre contoured with an 'anti thrust' shelf to prevent the pelvis sliding forward. Anterior seat well reducers can be added to maintain seat well length when the seat depth is increased.
. The bottom of the base has a slip resistant surface.
. The foam is closed cell so that it can be cut to be customised without the need to reseal it. Jay Medical will do free modifications including seat width and depth, leg troughs, notching for the drop solid seat, bevelled front and leg discrepancy cuts. Alternatively, these modifications can be carried out by a seating specialist, on site.
. A range of positioning accessories can be used on the cushion base to provide pelvic stability and positioning.
. A standard fluid pad provides shear reduction and pressure reduction for users at moderate risk of skin breakdown. An optional six pocket pad is used with those at high risk of skin breakdown.
. Available with a choice of three covers - incontinence resistant, air exchange or ballistic stretch.
. The cushion can be used with an optional solid drop seat or a solid seat insert within the cushion cover, under the cushion base.
Factors To Consider
All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct choice and depth of foam, correct inflation level) , a different product may need to be considered.
The fluid pad on the top layer of the cushion can be punctured
Ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front
