Short Description
The Communication Builder is an electronic communication device which uses digitised (human recorded) speech output. It comes with five frames / keyguards which allow the device to be used with 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 keys. Messages are activated by pressing the keys. It has an in built carry handle and comes in blue or black.

*Voice quality is influenced by the relative position of the device to the person doing the recording
*Voice volume can be varied, but the highest setting is not very loud
*The speaker is located on the front of the unit

Factors To Consider
* The different frames / keyguards allow the device to grow developmentally with the user
* The membrane keypad may be harder to press than a keyboard with mechanical keys for users with low muscle strength
* The blue model has a teddy bear motif. An older child or adult using the device may wish to cover it with a more mature sticker or exchange it for the black model
* Each level must have the same key configuration and messages need to be re-recorded onto the 7 level device if the key configuration is changed. This requires appropriate preparation time from an organisation wishing to use one device with a range of clients
