Short Description

A wheelchair platform stairlift that enables a person in a wheelchair to be transported up or down a stairway. The platform travels along tracking by a mains powered, electrically operated (battery) drive system. Two models are available - for curved or straight stairs. Can be independently operated or attendant operated. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Method Of Use

1. Call platform. Barrier arm rises automatically while front barrier and ramp remain in safety position.
2. Wheelchair user drives on and barrier arm automatically lowers and ramp rises.
3. The Stairiser travels to the bottom of the stairs, then the front barrier and ramp operate automatically.
4. The Stairiser can then fold away flat against the wall until needed.

More Details

. The stairlift consists of a rail which is wall mounted or mounted to the stair tread by floor mounted supports.
. The carriage climbs up and down an aluminium rail with positive rack and pinion drive and automatic brake.
. The platform lift is fully automatic, with electrically controlled platform and barrier arms. The lift folds away when not in use.
. The platform has a slip resistant surface, forward and backward rollstops that lower to form ramps, and safety barrier rails at the front and back.

CONTROLS
Carriage - Constant pressure joystick control within the carriage. Soft stop and start. Emegency alarm with battery back up.
Landing - Key switch and constant pressure buttons at landings which includes fold, unfold and directional buttons.

POWER SOURCE is via mains power. A mains power point needs to be installed near the operating area.

SAFETY FEATURES
- Over speed governor.
- Barrier arms surround the user and are locked into position prior to the platform moving
- Barrier arms and ramps can be operated manually.
- Platform stops automatically when sensitive surfaces detect obstructions.
- Safe entrance and exit with ramps that rise automatically to restrain the wheelchair when the platform is in motion. Barrier arms lower automatically when the ramps raise.
- A handrail is provided for passenger use.
- Slip resistant platform floor.
- Lift can be lowered manually if power fails.

DISMANTLING / FOLDING The platform and barrier arms fold up when not in use, either automatically or manually.

SAFETY FEATURES
- Audio-visual alert indicates that the lift is in use.
- When the wheelchair platform is not in use the controls are concealed and protected by the folding platform.

Installation

In NSW the owner or controller of the lift (if not the owner) is required to register their lift with WorkCover. They need to complete Form PL2 Application For Item Registration of Lift / Escalator and Moving Walkway. A fee of $65 is charged for a lift installed in a public place. The applicant must state that the plant has been inspected by a competent person and is safe to operate (use).

It is recommended that the lift be inspected annually by a competant person. WorkCover requires payment for registration as well as an annual fee.
