More Details
The hoist may be operated by the user or a carer and can be used in conjunction with a range of suspension systems. All models come with a soft stop and start motion and an emergency lowering device (cord).
Body Support System: designed to facilitate independent transfers. The frame is constructed of stainless steel. All components are water and rust resistant for bath/pool transfers. It secures the user between the padded foam curve-around cups and provides lift via the thigh supports. It can be disinfected and cleaned without requiring time to dry. The Body Support System is available in a range of sizes (regular, small or extra small). It attaches to the motor via two hooks and can be removed, transported and attached to another Handimove motor.
The Body Support System does not cover the buttocks region, which enables toileting. The thigh supports come in a range of models including; standard, slip-resistant, contoured or extra wide and are available with padded covers. The more extensive thigh support models come with a hook and loop fastening to further secure the user during the transfer.
The Body Support System is applied from the front of the user. Some strength is required by the client or carer to open the "arms" of the system. These "arms" automatically close when the user is being lifted and self-adjust to secure the user with sufficient force as appropriate for the size/weight of the user. It therefore provides universal sizing. The Body Support System can also be used without the thigh supports as a walking/gait/standing trainer in a rehabilitation setting.
Suspension Systems: a range of suspension systems are available that suspend either the Body Support System or Sling from the motor:
* Overhead Ceiling Tracking can be used in a confined space or to cover the full area of a room.
* A Wall Mounted system can be assembled that swings out in an arc. This is designed so that the lifting system can be moved for use in several rooms.
* Portable Frame can be assembled over a bed. This is an overhead track on four legs which may be dismantled for transporting.
Hand Controller: is available as an infra-red model or the standard pneumatic 'air tube' hand control which is not electric and is water resistant.
Slings: are also available for use when the Body Support System is not appropriate. The range of Handi-Slings include; universal sling, hygiene sling (for toileting), bathing sling, comfort sling (full body sling with padded legs), amputee sling, seat sling (has firm seat and back support) and walking harness (support for gait training and ambulation). All slings have multiple loops for attaching at different lengths.
Spreader Bar: is bow shaped to prevent the user's head from hitting it and does not block their vision while being lifted. Available in two point or four point models. It attaches via two hooks and can be removed, transported and attached to another Handimove motor or replaced by the Body Support System.
Portable Motor: the portable motor is 7kg and has a carry handle on top. It is 200mm high and has a load capacity of 182kg. The batteries are enclosed. A long handled reacher is optional and enables a carer to connect or disconnect the motorband to the swivel roller. An alternative version of this motor is available for looping under doorways for adjacent sections of track while keeping the user suspended.
Hippotherapy: the Body Support System can be used for transferring on/off horses. It provides an upright sitting posture with minimal body contact (thigh support and the "arms" around the user's torso).
