Short Description
A foam mattress replacement system designed to assist with pressure reduction. It is suitable for users with a low to medium risk of pressure ulcer development in a hospital or domestic environment. It is made of layers of viscoelastic (slow recovery) foam. It has a two way stretch cover.

More Details
Structure
The ConformX mattress replacement system comprises two layers of polyurethane cellular polymers
* The top layer is a viscoelastic polymer (slow recovery foam) that is thermal sensitive and profile cut to maximise support and reduce interface pressures
* The base layer is a high resilient, melamine free, cellular polymer
Cover
* The two way stretch cover is vapour permeable, water resistant, antimicrobial, bacteriostatic and fungistatic with a slip resistant base
* It has a concealed zip and is marked with a turning guide and washing instructions
* The mattress is suitable for CPR if required and has been tested as suitable for radiographic use
* It is also suitable for use on an electrically operated profiling bed
Factors To Consider
All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (e.g. correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.
Avoid the use of additional covers or pads between the user and the overlay. This may reduce the product's effectiveness.
Ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front. It is advisable to rotate the overlay on a weekly basis, following instructions printed on the mattress cover.
Maintenance
Dispose of foam products if they are wet, contaminated or become deformed or misshapen.
