ARATA is a national association whose purpose is to serve as a forum for information sharing and liaison between people who are involved with the use, prescription, customisation, supply and ongoing support of assistive technology. Their focus is the advancement of rehabilitation and assistive technology in Australia, through activities including conferences, special interest groups, website, listserver, membership directory and a newsletter.
Axcess is comprised of a network of registered nurses throughout the Sydney Metropolitan Area experienced in advising on and supplying a full range of medical, surgical and home healthcare products. This free service extends to individuals in their own homes, hospitals, nursing homes, hostels and retirement villages.
Chemtronics Direct is a not for profit organisation that provides specialist technical services in the Assistive Technologies industries across Australia. They offer advice and direction for the total life cycle management of a large range of assistive technology equipment. They also repair and maintain a wide range of assistive technology. Fully equipped mobile service vans service the metropolitan and country areas in all states of Australia. They also provide biomedical engineering services in New Zealand.
Choice is an independent organisation representing consumers in the marketplace by investigating products and service, and providing regular reports on service providers in a range of industries. Users can purchase membership to Choice magazine which gives access to various reports on a number of consumer related issues, including credit and finance options.
Dreamfit Foundation is a WA based, not for profit organisation that provides innovative equipment solutions for people with disabilities. Their team of engineers and therapists are committed to supporting people with disabilities to get out and try new activities, engage in their community and overcome challenges in their everyday life. Dreamfit is dedicated to working with people with all types of disabilities, all ages and all levels of ability across Australia.
EnableNSW is part of Health Share and is responsible for the administration of the NSW Health disability support programs including the: Aids and Equipment Program; Continence Assistance; Home Respiratory Program (HRP); Prosthetic Limb Service (formerly known as ALS); Specialised Equipment Essential for Discharge (SEED); and Speech Generating Device. To request assistance through EnableNSW, an application form needs to be completed by the individual or their representative.
Furntech (Australasian Furnishing Research & Development Institute) is an independent, not-for-profit technical organisation providing standards, testing, product certification and research for buyers and sellers of furniture in Australia and New Zealand.
Goods and Services Tax is tax paid on goods manufactured or imported into Australia. Medical aids and appliances that meet certain criteria are GST free. Information is available as a publication or can be viewed / downloaded from the Australian Taxation Office web site.
