Short Description

Guide Dogs provides a range of free services to people with low vision or blindness. Services are provided to people of all ages and all languages (interpreter services can be organised). Not all services involve the use of guide dogs. Contact your local Guide Dogs office for a list of services in your area.

Services provided by the Guide Dog Association:
* Guide Dog mobility services
* Orientation and mobility training
* Occupational Therapy Services
* Assistive Technology Help Desk
* Access to Information Services
* Community Connection Services
* NDIS and My Aged Care service provider
* In collaboration with The University of NSW, Guide Dogs funds the Centre for Eye Health who can provide an eye-disease assessment, management, and treatment to patients as no cost

Other
* Long cane training
* Use of electronic aids
* Stroke recovery programme
* Sighted guide training for family and friends
* Children's services
* Programmes for people with multiple disabilities
* Service workshops for community organisations
* Pets as therapy programme
* Low vision clinic

Hours: 9 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday
Referrals: - Self or by a health care worker, doctor, etc.
Fees: All services are provided to the service user free of charge.

Publications
* Several brochures on vision related topics are available in several languages

* Instructors can come to the client's home, place of work, hospital or school to train
* Instructors are also happy to visit an organization to offer a presentation of services so the staff are aware of what is available to anyone with vision impairment too or just general information on how best to assist someone with a vision impairment
