Personal Flotation Devices - 1996
*AS 1512: Type 1
Provides a high level of buoyancy and are designed to maintain the wearer in a safe floating position ie. with body inclined backwards from the vertical with the nose and mouth clear of the water. A buoyant collar is often incorporated. High visibility collars.
*AS 1499 Type 2 Without a collar. This Standard specifies requirements for personal flotation devices intended to assist flotation during short-term immersion in sheltered waters during daylight hours.
*AS 2260: Type 3
Provide similar amount of buoyancy to Type 2 but carry a wider range of range of colours.
Children's Flotation Toys and Aids - 1996
*AS 1900: covers flotation toys and swimming aids likely to be used by children aged up to 15 years in recreational activities and to assist in swimming tuition.
