Factors To Consider

. This item should be trialled in the users home environment to ensure maximum safety / independence. Environmental considerations include kerbs, footpaths, road / railway crossings, etc
The canopy may reduce wind blowing into the face, and this may be beneficial for those with respiratory issues.
Due to being enclosed in this scooter, vision and hearing are impeded. Extra care for the safety of the user and others (including pets or children) needs to be taken when operating. Issues such as blind spots caused by the scooter frame, or hearing others on a footpath may be difficult.
Removing the doors may improve hearing and reduce blind spots. The armrests are built in to these doors, so by removing them, balance may be an issue for some. Armrests that attach to the seat are optional, but could not be used with the doors on.
The door has three hinge points that can be difficult to align when refitting to the frame. Each door weighs 9.8kg.
The doors are long and hinged to the rear, so care should be taken when opening them, particularly when there is a wind. Their length may also make getting in and out difficult if little space is available.
There are no window wipers on this scooter, so the manufacturer recommends a product such as Rainex so water may bead off the Perspex.
There are no baskets, so items, such as shopping or walking aids need to be carried inside the canopy.
The programmable and proportional controllers may allow the speed to be set at a designated limit.
A raised lip on the base may be a trip hazard for some.
The slide window is compact in size. The user may have difficulty reaching out, or reaching the tiller to push while the motors are disengaged.

Overall length..........1600mm
Overall width............790mm
The space allowed on public transport for carrying mobility equipment is an area of 1300mm by 800mm.

State transit will only carry scooters with an unladen weight of less than 200 kg and which can be driven onto the bus, and manoeuvred to fit wholly within the designated wheelchair space under their own power. Any such scooters carried must also comply where relevant with the rules applying to wheelchairs.

Three wheeled mobility aids of any kind are unstable in normal bus operations and will not be carried because of the safety risk.
