Course Description

Very well structured.

Whilst many suppliers offer workshops on powered mobility, these are all provided within the ranges that the supplier has access to supply. At ILC NSW we will take you through all the features of powered mobility and empower you as a therapist to identify the advantages and disadvantages of chairs.
This one day introduction to powered mobility workshop will look at the different powered mobility bases on the market from entry level basic through to switch controlled rehab models.
Areas covered include:

  • Different drive base options
  • Clinical reasoning in drive base selection
  • Product knowledge and power wheelchair feature update
  • Actuators and functionality of chair
  • Tilt recline and overview of standing
  • Environmental considerations and constraints
  • Access points
  • Integration of environmental controls / communication devices

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify when different drive bases may be selected
  • Identify differences between entry level and rehab powered mobility bases
  • Discuss the use of powered actuators to manage pressure and positioning
  • Identify at least 3 ways a person can independently mobilize a powered mobility base

Cancellation & Refunds

When a cancellation or refund is unavoidable, you can:

  • Substitute a person in the course
  • Request a refund up to 7 days prior to the course (less 10% admin fee)
  • Request a transfer to another course

The ILC reserves the right to cancel a course when there are unforeseen circumstances. Notification of cancellation will be given by phone. If we cannot place the applicant in another course, we will refund the full amount.

The ILC is accessible for people with a disability. Additional learning support during training and assessment can be arranged with prior notice.

Tracee-lee Maginnity

BHSc (OT)

Trained in New Zealand, has over 10 years experience in the assessment, prescription and fitting of complex seating and mobility. Tracee-lee has presented and educated on this topic both in Australia and New Zealand. She has worked as a consultant clinican and educator.
