Agilitas

Agilitas Visual Cueing Device

Agilitas is small, discreet device that clips onto a belt or waistband. It continuously monitors the user's walking motion with a small motion sensor and intelligent software. When it identifies a freezing of gait episode, it generates a bright laser light to act as a visual cue. The wearer can then step through or over the laser dot and continue walking. Agilitas operates with a rechargeable battery.

More Details

Agilitas can be tailored to individual users
* By adjusting the position of the laser light cue
* As gait differs between different people, Agilitas allows you to change the sensitivity with which it activates its automatic cues

Agilitas operates in an automatic mode and a manual mode
* In automatic mode, the device detects shuffling and turns the laser dot on automatically
* Manual mode. The user switches the laser on by tapping it twice on the side. This is convenient for users when they are likely to suffer frequent episodes of freezing, such as walking around furniture at home

* Agilitas has a rechargeable battery that does not need replacing
* Agilitas can be used for over 12 hours of normal operation (automatic mode), depending on the frequency of use, before needing a recharge

Considerations

Patient tests held in Queensland, Australia, have shown visual cueing is a highly effective method of increasing the mobility of patients of Parkinsons Disease during freeze of gait episodes. Contact the supplier for more information.
