Chronic Pain Australia

Chronic Pain Australia is a group of volunteers including people in pain, researchers, health professionals and advocates who work towards de-stigmatising chronic pain. They provide high quality user-friendly research-based information and support. They support a 24/7 forum and provide and a free e-bulletin.

* To reduce the unnecessary suffering and isolation caused by chronic pain in the Australian community..

Their Vision
* No Australian living with persistent pain should suffer alone or without access to resources and information which help them effectively manage their pain in a manner promoting dignity and self respect, regardless of age, gender, culture, belief, socio-economic or compensation status.

Their Core Objectives
Chronic Pain Australia's key aims are to:
* Improve knowledge and understanding about chronic pain across Australia
* Promote better understanding amongst health professionals about what it is like to live with chronic pain; and
* Work towards supported self-management of pain.

These core aims are implemented through:
* Continuous engagement opportunities for people in pain to be heard through public forums
* Monthly e-bulletin publication with a growing subscription base
* Development of educational resources through partnerships with corporate sponsors

Creating awareness that chronic pain is:
* A condition in its own right
* Not a psychological condition
* Real
* Costly both personally and collectively

* Providing systemic advocacy through a national campaign conveying consistent messages crafted to educate the community and destigmatise the experience of living with pain
