Portable resting seats are not suitable for people with poor balance. Their base of support does not provide particularly good stability requiring the user to ensure that they are able to sustain a good sitting posture. The user also needs to be able to lower onto and rise from the seat without using the seat for support. When sitting, trunk stability is essential. Professional consultation for suitability of use is recommended.

Medical devices that are approved for use in Australia have been entered into a national database called the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), which is maintained by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
