Head Support System

Whitmyer Head Support Systems

This system includes a variety of Head Support styles and Facial
Supports as well as a Dynamic Forehead Strap system which are mixed
and matched to achieve optimum support. There are also various mounting brackets. Facial Switch Systems to activate a computer, communication device, etc. A Whit Kit Evaluation Set is available for clinicians to assess client needs.

More Details

* Head supports are swingaway and/or detachable. Mounting hardware is included.
* Facial supports can be standard or swingaway.

Head Supports
Soft - Consists of an occipital pad, sub-occipital pads, lateral section of sub-occipital pads (to provide lateral support to the neck) and winged out tabs (to protect client from being "hooked" around edge of head support).
Oval - Small padded oval headrest for minimal support requirements. Covered with water resistant Lycra.
Plush - Single padded head support with flared sides.
Dual Plush - combines two plush panels to create a large padded area where single size is not adequate.

Hydro Support Configuration
A collection of various contoured head support components, configured to support enlarged heads of people with hydrocephalus.

Facial Supports
Unilateral facial components with standard, spot or oval pads which can be positioned in a wide variety of places on the head to improve and maintain better head alignment. Components can be standard or swingaway when not required or for transfers.
Dynamic Forehead Strap - this helps to hold up the head of a person who cannot actively keep his/her head in a vertical position. It consists of a forehead strap which provides anterior forehead support and "moves" with the user. It is attached to the Soft headrest system (not included) which is mounted on a pulley system which allows the forehead band to "move" with the user providing greater freedom of movement.
* It is not recommended for people who may try to pull it off and/or are in situations where the client cannot be continually monitored for correct safe use.
* It is not compatible with all Whitmyer head support systems and
facial components and should not be used with any other head
support products from other manufacturers.
* Available in infant and child to adult sizes.

Mounting Brackets
These attach head support systems to the wheelchair and include:
* Swingaway model
* Detachable model
* Spectrum series with combination "swingaway / detachable mounting hardware:- Ball & Socket hardware adjusts in height & width.
* Interface Plate model for attaching system to plastic shell types of
back supports.
* Quick Mount model attaches over top of push handles for attaching head supports for evaluation purposes or for use on chairs with sling back upholstery.

Facial Switch Systems
* Suitable for people who only have functional control of their head to
activate a switch.
* Can activate computers, communication devices, toys etc.
* Available in several configurations with Unilateral and Bilateral switch
mounts.

Personal Speaker
* This can be attached to a headrest system to provide audible sound from radios, tape players or for use with communication devices for preview purposes.
* Attaches to the back of the headrest. Can be used with Facial Switch.
