Short Description
This service provides temporary care for children and adults with
cerebral palsy and allied conditions who live at home with their family or carer. This allows the family and/or primary carer to have an organised break as well as giving the consumer the opportunity of interacting with their peers. Respite can be organised by either the consumer or family/carer.

Style of Respite:
. Respite for children aged 5-18 years is provided in a modern cottage, which can accommodate up to five children, situated within the local residential community at Castle Hill.
. Respite for adults aged over 18 years is provided in purpose built houses at Chester Hill and St Ives. Each of these houses will accommodate five people.
Services Provided:
. Planned periods of respite during the week (overnight) weekends and during school holidays for children.
. Emergency and crisis accommodation is available.
. A scale of fees to both children and adults applies.
. Houses are staffed by qualified, experienced personnel with a House
co-ordinator employed to manage the day-to-day running of each house.
The co-ordinator is on 24 hour call to deal with emergencies.
. Respite services is a cross regional service.
