Disability Access and Adaptive Technology

The State Library of New South Wales provides an information service for people with a disability, their associates and the general community. They can assist with finding information about various aspects of disability and refer people to appropriate agencies for services.

Adaptive technology is available for use at the library by people who have a vision loss, are blind or have a reading disability.

Disability referral guide
The Disability referral guide is a searchable database of peak disability organisations in New South Wales. It also lists disability information services and agencies that handle complaints.

Disability resources
The library has a collection of books, videos and alternative formats that are available for loan through your local public library.

Adaptive technology
The library has a range of computer software and equipment to enable people with a disability to use the library's resources. To make a booking phone (09) 9273 1414. The screen reading software available is JAWS and due to its complexity prior knowledge is expected.

Contact the Disability Information Service by phone, email and post or by visiting the library.

The library is a wheelchair accessible building and provides a range of adaptive technology to enable people with a disability to use the library's resources.

Education to Employment Package
The Education to Employment Package has been designed to assist university graduates with a disability to find employment. The package was developed as a result of a study involving students and graduates with a disability from the University of Western Sydney, the University of Sydney and Charles Sturt University.
