It provides information about a range of physical disabilities and medical conditions, with a focus on educational implications of each. It was written to promote awareness and provide practical advice to school personnel in supporting students with physical disabilities and medical conditions.

*The manual is a joint project by the NSW Department of School Education and the New Children's Hospital at Westmead.
*It is attractively provided in a loose leaf binder format to accommodate future updates of information which is presented in three sections:
*Part 1 Meeting the Needs of Students This covers issues such as mobility, transport, seating use of computers and adaptive living.
*Part 2 Medical Background and Medical Implications Descriptions of several medical conditions are provided with 'key points for schools' regarding the educational implications of each condition. Some of the conditions include Asthma, Burns and scalds, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis.
*Part 3 Resources This section provides a summary of the main resources available in NSW for obtaining information or support on the physical disabilities and medical conditions covered in the manual.
