WHO CAN APPLY?
To be eligible for equipment through Telstra's Disability Equipment Program customers must:
* have a disability and be unable to use a standard telephone handset and
* be a Telstra customer i.e. obtain basic line rental from Telstra or be an associate of a Telstra customer residing at the same address (for example, spouse, member of household or employee).
Note: The order for theses phone can be placed directly by calling the Disability Program on 1800 068 424, and there is no need to fill in application forms.
For all other items, the client / carer needs to ring Telstra Disability Services. The staff will discuss the client's needs and eligibility over the phone. If the client is eligible, the equipment is provided.
Note: Business customers who have a PABX, Commander System or other switchboard system, are not eligible for products through the Disability Equipment Program.
COST
Being rental phones, a standard rental of $3 would applied each month as a part of applicant's phone bill
If you do not currently have a Telstra rental handset a once - only provisioning fee will apply plus a monthly payment to cover maintenance and breakdown.
The Disability Enquiry Hotline staff can advise of the current rental charges and if a provisioning fee is applicable.
