The Criminal Justice Support Network (CJSN) is a project of Intellectual Disability Rights Service that is being established to assist people with an intellectual disability who are in contact with, or affected by the criminal justice system. A statewide telephone information and advice service will be available for 24 hour support.

Trained CJSN volunteers will give direct one to one support at Police stations and Courts in three NSW regions: Hunter, Illawarra and Sydney.
This support service will be provided for people with an intellectual disability who are victims, witnesses or alleged offenders.
CJSN support workers are independent of the police and courts and will be objective and non judgemental in their support role.
CJSN support workers support workers assist people with an intellectual disability to understand and exercise their rights during a police interview or at court.
CJSN support workers do not give legal advice
Training
In addition to support worker training, education courses and resource materials will be developed to assist service providers, advocates and carers who support people with an intellectual disability who may have contact with the Criminal Justice system.
To obtain a support person and legal advice for a person with intellectual disability who has been arrested call 1300 665 908, between 9am to 10pm seven days a week
