BASE MATERIALS:
Made of high density, high resiliency polyurethane foam. The wrap and lift design uses shape and differing firmness to equally distribute weight throughout the femurs. It is designed to properly lift through these long flat bones, transferring weight from the ischial tuberosities and coccyx where breakdown tends to occur. The wrap design further equalises pressure throughout the seat area.

The contoured shape provides a well, to support and stabilise the pelvis, minimising the pelvis slipping forward on the cushion. The foam is closed cell so that it can be cut to be customised without the need to reseal it. The bottom of the base has a slip resistant surface.

GEL
The lightweight aqueous gel incorporates EPS beads (expanded polystyrene beads). A specific gel mixture is impregnated into the EPS beads to keep them suspended as a compound to ensure a proper flow. This compound is much lighter than an equivalent amount of standard gel.

COVER
Fitted cover has a tough, stretch material on the top and a durable ballistic cloth around the sides. The cover slips on and it has a handle sewn into the front edge to assist with the transfer of the cushion.

CUSTOMISATION
The cushion can be customised in terms of the selection of accessories and cutting of the firm foam base, eg - to accommodate leg length discrepancy.

APPLICATION
This system provides comfort as well as pressure management and positioning.

CLEANING REQUIREMENTS
The cushion cover may be machine washed and air dried.
The inner cover can be wiped with warm water and soap and wiped off with a clean cloth.
The inner foam should not be washed.

Considerations

All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct choice and depth of foam, correct inflation level), a different product may need to be considered.

SOLUTION
For the active client. The Solution has a contoured, wrap and lift base, a twin cell gel well, dual viscoelastic foam layers, 4 way stretch top fabric, pliable urethane fluid resistant inner liner and slip resistant bottom.

SPECTRUM
The Spectrum is a modular cushion. It takes the wrap-and-lift base design to the next level by providing an extra deep well and allowing the provider to choose the medium that offers the best pressure management and comfort for the individual client. Choices are: the lightweight twin cell gel or the viscoelastic foam insert. These options are inserted into the cushion when it is ordered and are not removable. This cushion has an added Dibond 3mm base that supports the inserts.

Options

The Spectrum cushion has optional inserts of gel or foam cells.
