Short Description
A battery operated wheelchair platform lift for curved stairways, indoors and outdoors. It can be mounted on the inside or outside of the stairway and is suitable for use on stairs with tight bends. Option of a folding seat.
More Details
. Rail Construction: The rails are designed and constructed using computer integrated manufacturing (CIM). The rails are bent to the desired configuration with extreme accuracy on a computer numerically controlled (CNC) pipe bending machine using computer aided design
(CAD) data.
. Integral Handrail: A unique feature of the HIRO Traction System is that the top rail serves as a handrail, free of oil and grease, and slots which can represent a pinch hazard.
. Drive System: The Hiro Traction Drive System is safe, clean and
eliminates the need for machinery towers at the top or bottom of the stairs. Two pairs of polyurethane coated steel rollers mounted at the rear or the platform generate the traction forces by elastically deforming the rollers and rails. No gear teeth or suspension ropes or chains are necessary.
. Fully Automatic Operation: The platform will fold automatically to the stowed position at the press of a button. The arms fold down into
the vertical position, the platform ramps fold up, then the platform folds up,
concealing and protecting the arms and platform controls to create a compact and vandal safe unit which leaves the stairway virtually unaffected.
. Overspeed Safety Device: The Lift is fitted with an overspeed safety device independent of the drive train which stops the lift in the event of overspeed.
. Operation: Operation is via constant pressure controls:
On the Platform: Up, Down, Stop, Key
On the Landings: Up, Down, Key

In NSW the owner or controller of the lift (if not the owner) is required to register their lift with WorkCover. They need to complete Form PL2 Application For Item Registration of Lift / Escalator and Moving Walkway. A fee of $65 is charged for a lift installed in a public place. The applicant must state that the plant has been inspected by a competent person and is safe to operate (use).
It is recommended that the lift be inspected annually by a competant person. WorkCover requires payment for registration as well as an annual fee.
Request further details from the supplier or contact WorkCover Plant Registration Unit.
It is an offence to operate plant that is not correctly registered under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001.
