Short Description

VTEQ mattresses are made from visco elastic foam. They are supplied with removable, washable covers. An optional waterproof ("Carflex") cover is available for certain sizes. They are available in two densities and in five sizes from single to queen size.

MATERIAL
. The VTEQ foam is a temperature and pressure sensitive material that shapes itself to the user's body to offer optimal support. This is to allow the user to rest in a natural position, with their posture fully supported.
. The foam contains a Healthguard? additive which makes the foam hypoallergenic. It is resistant to dust mites, bacteria, mould, mildew, fungi and odour causing germs.

STRUCTURE
They are available in two high density grades of visco-elastic foam: Standard or Premium.

COVER
Removable and washable. "Carflex" waterproof cover is available for some sizes.

Factors To Consider

All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.

Standards

Some assistive technology needs to meet Australian or other standards. Standards may relate to materials, manufacturing and installation.
