Dept Of Ageing, Disability & Home Care (ADHC)

The NSW Department of Ageing, Disability & Home Care (ADHC) is the leading NSW Government agency responsible for older people, people with a disability and their carers. They also provide home care services to help these people to live independently in their own homes. ADHC has regional offices throughout the state.

ADHC directly provides services through Home Care NSW and through ADHC Disability Services. It also funds a range of services through the Home and Community Care Program and Disability Services Program.

Older People
Some of the ways they support older people include:
. providing support at home with personal care, domestic support, meals and home maintenance
. providing respite
. providing community transport
. providing community nursing and allied health services
. promoting active ageing through Seniors Week and Seniors Card
. raising community awareness about issues that affect older people

People with a disability
ADHC funds programs and services that provide people with a disability opportunities to participate in community life. These include advocacy and information services.

Carers
Carers can receive support from a variety of sources, including family, friends, non government agencies and government departments.

Services are available specifically for carers, such as respite care, as well as for older people and people with a disability themselves, such as personal care and day programs, that can also benefit carers.

Home Care Service
The Home Care Service is one of a number of Home and Community Care providers subsidised by the Australian and NSW Governments.
Services include:
. Domestic assistance
. Personal care
