Short Description
A clear plastic bed rail protector that allows the patient to see the room from the bed when they are lying down in bed. Foam padding fits over the top rail. It attaches to the bed with hook & loop webbing. Sold in pairs.
Method Of Use
To Fit: Place the protector over the top rail of the bed rail with the smooth side on the inside and the three webbing and hook & loop straps on the inside next to the bed rail. Tuck the clear plastic down between the side of the mattress and the bed rail. Thread the webbing and hook & loop straps down under the bottom bar of the Bed Rail and then thread it through the black fittings, sewn to the top Straps. Keep some tension on the webbing to pull the side of the Bed Rail Protector down, while fastening the hook & loop straps.
When lowering the bed rails it may be possible to leave the Bed Rail Protector in place for some types of bed rails, but normally it is easier to completely remove them before lowering the bed rails.

More Details
. The benefit of being able to see through the Protector may help many people who may feel trapped and enclosed, compared to the normal foam padded bed rail protectors.
. It will enable the carers to see that the patient is safely positioned in bed.
. The foam padding fitted over the top rail helps protect the legs and arms of patients who may put their limbs over the top rail. There is no foam in the main part of the protector. However the clear plastic will help stop people getting their arms, legs and head entrapped in the bedrails. If they are constantly kicking one section of the Bed Rail Protector, then a small pillow or some foam can be placed inside the protector, to help stop the patient from hurting themselves.
CLEANING
Spray and wipe dry with popular brands of disinfectants. It is advisable to do sample cleaning test on a lower corner of the protector.
Factors To Consider
In certain circumstances there is an element of risk involved in the use of a bed pole or bed rail. All users require an initial risk assessment. A risk assessment should be undertaken in each circumstance of use. The Bed Pole or Bed rail should not be used in circumstances where there is a gap between the vertical components and the mattress. Users most at risk would include: those with physical limitations, cognitive impairment or a combination of both, or where the intended user's faculties are comprised by medication. Users should have the risk assessed prior to the prescription of a bed rail or bed pole.
Regular monitoring is recommended particularly where the condition is changing.
Some patients may be distracted when they look through the Clear Protector and they may try to reach out to touch some flowers, etc. If this is likely to happen consider using the Pelican foam padded Bed Rail Protectors. They cannot be seen through.
