More Details
* Designed specifically for children who require mild to moderate support to help maintain a sitting position when toileting.
* Suitable for home and school.
Seat
* The contoured, smooth moulded plastic seat supports the child in a natural forward leaning position. Beveling at the front edge of the seat accommodates those children who have slight knee flexion contractures or tight hamstrings and cannot achieve 90 degree flexion at the knees.
* Adjustable knee loops position the knees at 90 degree of flexion and prevent the child from sliding forward.
* Removable front (trunk) support - channelled arm troughs encourage the child to hold the support and thus promote a flexed position of the trunk. When the child holds the support, hip flexion increases past 90 degrees to promote muscle relaxation and minimise extensor patterns. The child gains added stability by grasping the anterior support.
* A soft urine deflector prevents injury during transfers.
Postural Supports
* Hip pads - Optional hip pads provide more intimate stabilisation of the pelvis, while accommodating the child's growth.
* Side lateral supports - The laterals provide trunk support for those children who require it. They can act to cue the child to bring their trunk back to a stable, midline position.
* Adjustable knee strap - The knee strap provides backward pressure just below the knees, that aids pelvic stabilisation and discourages extensor patterns. Straps are made from a thermoplastic rubber to avoid complications from latex allergies.
* Independent, bi-level foot support - This helps to position the lower
extremities to achieve 90 degree flexion at the knees and ankles and at least 90 degree flexion at the hips.
Cleaning
Its rounded shape and smooth plastic construction make it easy to clean. Can be placed in the shower to clean with mild detergent.
Installation
The Aquanaut slides on and off a bracket that can easily be installed under the toilet seat. It does not interfere with toilet use when the potty is not being used. When needed, the potty seat slides under the adapter and is lowered into place.
