Short Description

A self propelled wheelchair with a battery powered stand up mechanism. To assist transportation, the wheelchair features quick release rear wheels and front castors as well as a folding backrest. It is available in two adult sizes with seven seat widths and two child sizes with two seat widths. A range of options is available.

Stand Up mechanism
* Powered actuator. Switch activation and switch option for all levels of hand and finger function. The user is lifted to a standing position of up to 86 degrees.

* Push button hand held control on a swivel cord. This can be mounted with hook and loop fastening on the armrest for user operation or on the back of the chair for attendant control.

This is a scripted wheelchair. The supplier takes the measurements and sends them to Switzerland where the chair is made to order.

Factors To Consider

Caution should be exercised prior to trial or purchase of a Stand Up wheelchair. Medical clearance by a doctor is recommended before standing. Assessment of the person's cognitive ability to safely use the Stand Up wheelchair is an important consideration. There may be concerns for a person who has not stood for a period of time in relation to

* Orthopaedic disorders
* Brittle bones
* Osteoporosis
* Hip, knee and ankle contractures
* Assessment by a physiotherapist is also recommended before trial or purchase of a Stand Up wheelchair.
