More Details
Foam Base
* The foam base is made from lightweight, moulded, moisture resistant foam
* It has been contoured to provide a deep well to support and stabilise the pelvis, minimising the pelvis slipping forward on the cushion
* The well is available in three different sizes
* Reducer ring inserts can be used to reduce the size of the well
* Foam base height can be either standard or deep
Well Inserts
The insert is available in four different options
Factory filled fluid insert - a grey insert, filled with Jay Flow fluid to a pre-determined level. The insert can be overfilled, underfilled or asymmetrically filled in the factory. This insert is the standard option with the cushion.
Field variable fluid insert - a blue Jay Flow fluid insert, with four Velcro attachment points to allow positioning of supplemental fluid pads, designed for accommodation of pelvic obliquity or changing needs. The insert comes standard with two supplemental pads. Additional pads can be ordered in four different sizes.
Single valve air insert - A series of interconnecting ROHO air cells with a single valve.
Dual valve air insert - A series of interconnecting ROHO air cells, divided into two separate chambers, designed for accommodation of pelvic obliquity or changing needs.
The fluid pads feature a pleating design to increase the surface contact area and accommodate the users shape, providing immersion and envelopment of the pelvis, while preventing the fluid from moving out of place.
Cover
* Cushion comes standard with a cover that features an underlying reticulated foam layer
* The cover is made from a microclimatic material and is breathable, washable and removable
* Covers are designed to be oversized and feature a pleating design to reduce surface tension and allow optimal immersion of the pelvis
* An incontinence cover is available
Adjustment
* The cushion features a range of positioning options, including lateral and medial thigh supports, lateral pelvic supports and pelvic obliquity wedges
* Cushion covers can be customised to accommodate additional supports
Other modifications to the cushion include
* changing the location of the pelvic well
* increased cushion height
* posterior or anterior slope
* notch for wheelchair back canes or rails
* adjustable drop seat.
Considerations
All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg. correct choice and depth of foam, correct inflation level), a different product may need to be considered.
It is also important to ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front.
