Short Description

The OneWaySlide helps to improve sitting position in chairs and wheelchairs. It resists forward movement whilst allowing backwards sliding. The carer uses accessible draw straps to position the user. It is made of polyester, polyethylene and a special sliding material, Ultra Low Friction (ULF). It is available as an open ended mat or in a tube shape design for more active users.

Method Of Use

Place OneWaySlide so that the open section is facing the back of the wheelchair.

Place the upper section so that it partially sticks up on the backrest of the wheelchair. This makes it easier for the caregiver to reach the handles.

Tie the OneWaySlide to the rear frame tubing of the wheelchair.

1. Positioning is easier if the patient can lean forward. If the patient is unable to lean forward, one caregiver can assist from the front while supporting the patient's balance.

2. If the patient can lean forward and has good balance while seated, only one caregiver is required. Grasp the appropriate handles and pull the patient back by drawing the OneWaySlide upward along the backrest of the wheelchair.

3. If the patient is heavy or if the chair has a high back, two caregivers can assist, one working on either side. Coordinate your efforts.

Raising the patient's feet from the floor will relieve some of the weight of the thighs from the seat, thereby making repositioning easier.
