More Details
Display
The SimpleMed has 28 tablet compartments for seven day use, with up to 4 doses per day. The tablet compartments are made of semi-transparent plastic. The days of the week are written at the bottom of each column. The four compartments for each day are numbered. There is a blue LED light under each tablet compartment which indicates which lid to open.
There is a digital LCD display screen which displays the date and time. Written messages can be programmed in for each dose such as 'Take with food' which will come up on the display screen when the dose is required.
Function
For each dose, the appropriate compartment will illuminate one hour prior to the scheduled dose. If the compartment has not been opened in this hour an audible reminder alarm will sound. Opening the compartment will turn off the light and the reminder alarm.
Monitoring Service
There is the option of SimpleMed (SimpleMed Plus) connecting to a monitoring service. The SimpleMed unit is connected to a phone line and performs a daily status call to the monitoring centre. The monitoring centre is sent an alert if a dose is missed or the wrong compartment is opened. The monitoring centre will send an email or text message to the family member or care giver. The supplier does not provide the monitoring service.
Installation
The SimpleMed is provided with a power adaptor. In the event of a power shortage there is a back up battery which provides 12 to 18 hours of charge. The dosage schedule is entered using the keypad next to the display screen.
Factors To Consider
