Structure
* 30 air cells
TISSUEgard air cell technology
The TISSUEgard air cell design features a pleated surface giving up to 15% additional support area, allowing the user to immerse into the mattress, virtually eliminating lateral tension in the mattress surface. This results in reduced pressures, shear and friction, the key contributory factors to tissue damage, and alleviates the need for a dedicated heel zone.
AUTOsupport feature
This automatically adjusts pressure within each of the cells throughout the cycle so that support, posture and therapy are constantly maintained at optimum levels, in response to user weight, movement and position. Equalisation of cell pressure automatically takes place at each stage of the cycle, to ensure precise pressure and therapy is applied.
ODS cell design for optimum patient support and security
Air cells feature ortho-differential support (ODS) which provides optimum internal cell pressures for varying body weights and shapes, automatically compensating for the patient's BMI. Narrower in the centre than at the outer edge, air cells feature in-built support pressure differential, supporting the smaller, lighter user on the softer central area of the cell, and the larger, heavier user on the firmer outer edges, as well as providing a feeling of security for the patient
Low Air Loss Feature
Air is released and circulated beneath the cover to reduce humidity and help manage the user's microclimate.
Cover
* The removable cover is two way stretch, vapour permeable, waterproof and fire retardant
* Both the cell material and the cover are non allergenic, highly resistant to soaps and detergents, and are fully washable for effective decontamination
Attachment
* The mattress features anti-kink and non tear anchoring straps
* The robust power unit features an integrated carry handle and adjustable hanging brackets
Pump / Controls
* Support Surface Recognition. The power unit automatically recognises which support surface (overlay or mattress replacement) is connected and applies the therapy appropriate to the product without the need for user intervention
* Simple, concise operation buttons with autolock feature to prevent
inadvertant button operation.
* Power unit features audio alerts together with LCD screen showing current operation status / fault conditions
* Comfort Control allows the carer to adjust the comfort setting in either
therapy mode to help user compliance
* Transport Facility allows unpowered support of the user for up to four hours
* Phase Flow? pressure control pump operates on demand only, reducing
power consumption, noise and extending service life.
Safety Features
* CPR function with flush-fitting rapid deflation valve removes air from the mattress to enable CPR procedures
Factors To Consider
All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.
It is advisable that a health professional be consulted when considering a suitable pressure care product.
