Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs) help older people and their carers decide what kind of care will best meet their needs when they are no longer able to manage at home without assistance. ACATs provide information on suitable care options and can help arrange access or referral to appropriate residential or community care.
The Aged Care Association Australia is a professional, national industry association for providers of quality residential and community aged care services. A federated peak body, ACAA is the only organisation that represents care providers from the private and voluntary sectors on a national basis.
Aidacare provide preventative maintenance programs for aged care facilities. This services ensures that all equipment used by the aged care facility is serviced and maintained on a routine basis for required compliance and accreditation. Aidacare provide free onsite assessments.
ASCCA is the national peak body for seniors and technology. Membership is open to any organisation promoting access to information technology by older people. ASCCA is represented in every state and territory of Australia.
COTA Australia is the peak national organisation representing the rights, needs and interests of older Australians. COTA Australia is the national policy and advocacy arm of the COTA Federation which comprises COTAs in each State and Territory. COTA Australia focuses on policy issues from the perspective of older people as citizens and consumers.
GardenfunKtion provides a design, maintenance and modification service to people living in the northern beaches region of Sydney (or within a 20km radius). Information and advice is also available by phone.
Gardening maintenance assistance is available in several NSW localities for people who are older and less abled (normally pensioners). Most services are HACC funded and are independent of the other services.
Hydrotherapy is a form of physiotherapy treatment conducted in a heated pool. Supervised by physiotherapists with special training in hydrotherapy, clients do specifically designed exercises to help them regain or enhance their physical wellbeing.
