There are a number of resources for transport services for people who are disabled and unable to access regular transport services or use a car.

DARTS provides a Door-to-door service to cater for the social and recreational needs of people with a physical disability, including wheelchair users, who are unable to use public transport and live on the North side of Sydney.

Disabled Motorists Association (DMA) is a Victorian based self help group that aims to help people with disabilities gain independence through motoring. It provides information and advice and is run by and for physically disabled people. It is the only motoring group of its kind in Australia.

Inner West Community Transport provides a HACC funded transport service for people who are frail aged and / or have disabilities as well as their carers. They provide shopping services, outings, individual transport and mini bus hire. The service operates in the inner west region of Sydney covering Ashfield, Burwood, Canada Bay and Strathfield.

Sir Roden Cutler Charities provide services to people in need who have no other means to meet the need. Services include transport for older and ill people to hospital, grants for special circumstances, personal loans for mobility vehicles and respite for carers. The charity is supported by sponsors, donations and fund raising events.

SmartCare is a professional non-emergency community nursing service, providing transitional and associated personal care. Their qualified nursing staff are experienced and trained to accompany clients wherever they wish to go 24/7. The service is available in the Sydney metropolitan region. It includes country visits.

In 1981 the NSW Government introduced a scheme allowing severely and permanently disabled persons to travel in taxis at concessional rates. Disabilities covered by the Scheme must be permanent: they cannot be improved by further treatment or rehabilitation.
