This Standard specifies requirements for seating appliances which are designed to be attached to or placed on the sides of a bathtub. These requirements do not cover seating appliances which are designed to be placed within a bathtub.
This Standard specifies materials, construction, performance and labelling requirements for chairs which are intended for use in showers and toilets. It covers requirements for mobile shower / commode chairs, static commode chairs and stools, and static chairs and stools for use in showers. It does not cover use in swimming pools or other corrosive environments.

The second volume in a series of 3. It contains solutions to some of the more common problems encountered by elderly people and people with disabilities in the bathroom and toilet. Alternative ways of doing tasks are suggested and illustrated descriptions given of appliances which may assist in maintaining a person's independence.
