Typewriters may be manual or electric and vary in weight, size and features. The basic functions of a typewriter offer a simple means of recording work such as writing, copying, spelling, creative writing, simple maths and number concepts. Manual typewriters are now rarely used as electric typewriters can run from mains power and batteries to enhance portability.
