Job Opportunities at ILC - AT Mentors

March 14, 2014

Be one of the Assistive Technology Mentors (ATM) in the Pilot project
- in Hunter NSW and Tasmania, NDIA Pilot Regions.
The Independent Living Centre NSW (ILC NSW) together with the Independent Living Centre Tas (ILC Tas) are seeking interested people with disabilities or carers who have significant experience in using assistive technologies (AT) (aids and equipment) to participate in this pilot project.
The pilot AT Mentors will undertake training to support the AT decision-making and choices of others. Pending successful completion of the training the ATMs will be employed in either the ILC NSW or ILC Tas for the employment phase of the project.

ILC Training - Manual Wheelchair Prescription

This two day course covers clinical aspects of manual wheelchair prescription, and provides hands-on investigation of manual wheelchair features.

- Transportation and handling of manual wheelchairs

This course has been developed in collaboration with the Master Builders Association of NSW and the Building Designers Association of NSW. This training program will provide you with the skills and knowledge to confidently design and build for the older generation and people with a disability.

The course is designed as an introduction for therapists, aged care workers and others involved in the care of a person diagnosed with dementia. The workshop explores assistive technology and strategies to promote independence and to enable people to remain safe in their environment.

ILC Everyone Connects: Consumer Mini-Expo

The Independent Living Centre NSW, in collaboration with the Telstra Foundation, is presenting a Mini-expo for people with complex communication needs (CCN).
The cost is FREE for people with CCN and one family member/ unpaid carer. Others (e.g. therapists, teachers, paid carers) are welcome to attend at a cost of $25pp.
