Short Description
Homefront is a Department of Veteran's Affairs programme designed to prevent falls and accidents in the home. All Gold Card and White cards holders are eligible for a free Homefront assessment and for some financial assistance towards the cost of recommended aids and modifications.

. During the home visit the assessor will be looking for potential hazards in and around the home eg: poor lighting, loose floor coverings, the need for grab rails.
. The assessor will also provide information about departmental and community services.
. With the owners consent, a tradesperson will carry out minor modifications and / or supply and install aids recommended by the assessor. Limited financial assistance ($150) can be provided towards the cost of recommended home aids and appliances.
. Homefront does not provide assistance with garden maintenance, care services or any aspect of home security.
. If a clinical assessment is recommended by the assessor, the client will access the Rehabilitation and Appliances Program (RAP) at DVA.
