Short Description
The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) has a Veterans' Home Care program to help veterans and war widows / widowers remain in their own homes for longer. This includes domestic assistance, personal care, home and garden maintenance and respite care.
More Details
The service can:
. assess all home care needs
. enable access to a full range of care services the client is assessed as needing through a single entry point
. determine an appropriate plan of support and care for the client
. if necessary, refer the client to other DVA or community based benefits and services
Eligibility - a person must be:
. a veteran of the Australian defence forces or
. an Australian mariner or
. a defence or war widow / widower of a veteran of the Australian defence forces or an Australian mariner
and have
. a Repatriation Health Card - for all conditions (Gold Card); or
. a Repatriation Health Card - for specific conditions (White Card)
Assessments are undertaken by Veterans' Home Care Regional Agencies appointed by DVA.
