Short Description
Tactile ground surface indicators available either as slip resistant discrete domes that are individually installed or steel plates with domes. The domes are made from stainless steel or nickle plated zinc. They are applied to the existing ground surface in a grid pattern to comply with the relevant standards.
Models
DISCRETE DOMES
With Flat Back design for substrate mounting
Type AFT-S/S Engraved, concentric circle design on face with slip resistant ribbed bevelled edge.
Type BFT-S/S Black 3M Safety-Walk? inserted into face with slip resistant ribbed beveled edge.
. Suitable for use on vitrified porcelain, ceramics, metals and glass. . Can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications.
With Mounting Stem design for substrate mounting
Type AST-S/S Engraved, concentric circle design on face and ribbed bevelled edge.
Type BST-S/S Black 3M Safety-Walk? inserted into face, ribbed bevelled edge .
. Suitable for use on stone, masonry, timber, parquetry
. Can be applied in both indoor and outdoor applications.
DISCRETE DOMES FOR OUTDOOR APPLICATION ONLY
Type AF-Z Engraved, concentric circle design on face, with slip resistant engraved grooves on side. Suitable for use on dark coloured stone
Type BF-Z Black 3M Safety-Walk inserted into face with Slip Resistant engraved grooves on side. Suitable for use on light coloured stone
Features common to both:
Manufactured in zinc from die cast moulds, nickel plated
Unique mounting, flat back design for substrate mounting
Also suitable for use on masonry substrates that do not expand and contract overtime such as terrazzo, sandstone, and bluestone etc. Should only be applied to non alkaline environments.
STAINLESS STEEL PLATE
Type BSTP-S/S Black 3M Safety-Walk? inserted into face
Features:
. 300mm x 600mm standard size or customised size
. Flat Back mounting back design for substrate mounting
. Suitable for areas that are carpeted or that require a more conventional looking appearance with a difference. They can be affixed directly onto escalators, travelators and over the top of vinyls, corks, rubbers and carpet of badly damaged substrates.
. Installation of the plates can be done by screwing down or by using the recommended 3M epoxy.
Options
Stabiliser on dome with flat back to prevent dome from sinking below carpet pile
Brass domes
More Details
Materials: marine grade stainless steel or nickel plated zinc with two main surface designs (engraved, concentric circle design or 3M Black Safety Walk) and two connection devices (flat back or mounting stem). Zinc domes are for outdoor applications only.
Steel plates are extruded 316 marine grade stainless steel with a raised dome profile. 3M Black Safety Walk (slip resistant) is inserted into the face of these domes
Surface configuration: raised domes with slip resistant surface
Areas of use: pedestrian access areas; wet areas, dry areas, indoor use, outdoor use
Suitable substates may include:
- stone / masonry / timber
- carpet / vinyl / rubber
- vitrified porcelain / ceramics / glass / metals
Colours silver or brass to assist in achieving the required level of luminance contrast with surrounding ground surface.
Construction
DTAC TGSI's are tested and certified slip resistant TGSI's which meet all the relevant Australian and New Zealand codes and standards.
Installation
DTAC Tactile Indicators require professional installation. The DTAC Installation Guide must first be read by the prospective installer.
The TGSI's are directly fixed to any new or existing stable surface or substrate without excavation or disruption to either the design or building process. A 3M Adhesive product achieves a chemical and mechanical bonding in a matter of hours.
The Building Code of Australia specifies in what situations TGSI must be installed. To comply with the BCA the installation must be in full compliance with the relevant sections of the current AS1428.4. Tactile ground surface indicators for the orientation of people with vision impairment. This standard provides specifications on the form of TGSI and on their installation. Refer to this standard to determine the luminance contrast required between the TGSI and the surrounding ground surface and for installation details including width, length and location for a wide range of applications
Standards
For some types of equipment, specific Australian or other Standard(s) are applicable to the materials used in, the manufacturing processes applied to, and the installation of products. Compliance with relevant Standards is indicated by written certification that a product has been tested and assessed as compliant with specified Standards. Purchasers are advised to check with the supplier or manufacturer of this item as to its compliance with relevant Standard(s).
