Short Description

The ComforT cushion consists of a foam wedge base, cross welded side rails and exchangeable colour coded lycra Cel-Paks. These paks are filled with Floam (an ultra lightweight fluid foam) and contain ComforT Cel-Paks. These Cel-Paks contain a heat absorbing material. The protective cover is incontinent resistant. Available in standard and special order sizes. Suitable for people who are at medium risk of developing pressure sores.

. The ComforT is part of the ProContour range of cushions. Visually and in terms of pressure relief, stability, postural control and shear reduction, the ComforT is very similar to the Cloud cushion. However ComforT adds the dimension of temperature management through the presence of a unique Phase Change Material made up of millions of heat absorbing microcapsules.
. The cushion helps manage heat build up that can lead to cellular stress and, eventually, skin breakdown. In addition, the cushion's cooling properties can help people whose bodies can no longer manage heat well on their own.
. The lycra cells (Cel-Paks) are filled with Floam which is an ultra lightweight fluid foam.
. Floam filled cells are fitted from beneath the cushion into colour matched pockets to pre-form a shape that suits most clients. Each pocket is colour coded for easy replacement (in case of disassembly) Where specific postural correction is required eg a right pelvic tilt, the cells can be interchanged until a precise fit is achieved
. Specially designed 5 degree ethafoam wedge and containment base maximises forward stability. The cross welded side rails improve side to side stability,.
. Incontinent resistant protective outside cover.
. Suitable for people who are sedentary and at risk of skin breakdown. Also where posture and pressure correction is required.
. Cannot bottom out.

Cell types:
. Small fill (blue) cells for areas where pressure is to be transferred from eg. sacral, ischial area.
. Medium fill (black) cells and large fill (red) cells for areas where it is
less risky to transfer pressure to. Large fill (red) cells are also used for abduction and customisation. Black cells are used under thighs and support the bulk of the users weight.

Properties of Floam:
. Flows to conform to shape, equalizing the pressure by hydrostatic means.
. Does not spring back or flow back to a given shape so there's no back pressure.
. Lightweight
. Virtually shear free
. Non toxic / non staining
. Will not separate - does not need kneading
. Not weather reactive or cold to touch, does not heat up.
