More Details
Frame
Wooden / veneer in wide range of colours. It profiles for comfort with separate head, centre and foot sections. The four section frame can achieve an infinite amount of positions via a remote handset.
The standard lying surface is the Volker MiS Micro Stimulation System which is a dynamic positioning system. This consists of butterfly shaped springs that respond to the user's movements stimulating gentle movements that transfer through the entire mattress and "swirl around the body like a wave". The nerve endings detect and are "comforted" by the subtle stimulus . Minimal movement relaxes the body and relieves pressure.
Headboard / Footboard
*Home style head & foot ends wood veneer
*Wide range of headboard and footboard styles
Adjustments
*Electric Hilo height adjustable feature
*Electric backrest angle with automatic contour
*Electric knee bend (legrest angle with knee break)
*Electric braking castors all four wheels
*Electric trendelenburg tilt
*Manually operated foot of bed (legrest) elevation using a ratchet mechanism to achieve different angles.
Controls
*Electrically operated push button hand held control.
*Lock out feature on hand set. Insert key to lock
Mattress
*Various types of foam mattresses - convoluted, pressure relieving foams
*Raised mattress retainers at sides of bed
Castors
*Pressing the "brake" and "down" buttons together allows the castors to emerge for movement when required.
Bed Rails
*Four integrated safety rails with telescopic function. Rails are in two sections on both sides of the bed. These automatically adjust in conjunction with the profile of the bed. This two part design also provides users with an opening in the middle of the bed.
*Designed to be non restraining. Top rails are often used on their own as they allow the occupant to leave the bed when they want whilst offering peace of mind that they won't fall out of bed if they roll over in the night.
*When not in use, the safety frames are lowered and slid beneath the mattress frame without any part jutting out. When pulled out horizontally they can be used as a wide shelf or for certain patient positions. When raised to first stage, they serve to mark the limits of the mattress frame and as a mobilisation support. If required, the safety frames are telescoped to full height in a second stage.
Safety Features
*The chunky telescopic legs provide a stable platform, especially when rising to its treatment height.
*Retractable wheel system. The carer presses a button on the handset and the wheels automatically retract to leave the bed resting on its stocky and stable legs.
*Raising the back section of most beds results in the occupant sliding down the mattress. The Volker bed can alleviate this uncomfortable feeling by compensating this force and pulling the mattress backwards. Every Volker nursing bed is fitted with an automatic mattress compensation. When the back section is in the process of moving, the mattress moves backwards. In this way the angle of the mattress is compensated for and the occupant does not slide down against the foot board.

Transporting
Head and foot boards can be removed. Otherwise bed does not dismantle.
Two person lift. Can be transported sideways on a trolley.
Note:
- legrest raise (bed frame bends at knee area and the foot end of the bed remains elevated)
- Knee break (bed frame bends at knee area and the foot end of bed remains low)
- Trendelenburg Tilt allows the entire bed to tilt so a person's feet can be higher than their head.
The bed frames of Volker nursing and hospital beds are intentionally called "safety frames", not "side bars". Volker has developed frames that protect residents from accidentally rolling out of bed, without confining them to bed. The safety frames are constructed with gap dimensions that prevent clamping.
